As Africa explores nuclear energy, misconceptions persist, yet this sector holds significant opportunities. With one-third of the 30 countries currently considering nuclear power are in Africa, it offers a path to clean, reliable, and cost-effective energy. While costs are high—$6 to $10 billion per plant—local industries can engage in supplying materials like cement and cables, aligning with Africa’s growing industrial capacity. The technology needed is similar to that of other power plants, making it accessible. Now is the time for African industries to embrace nuclear opportunities, drive policy support, and participate in shaping the future of energy.
